There is a clear love-hate relationship with the sun, but... are we clear about our position and how to get the maximum benefit from it?
The benefits of the sun are many and we know them well:
We expose ourselves to a greater or lesser extent to the sun to obtain benefits in bones, skin (especially for aesthetic reasons or to help prevent or reduce conditions such as acne), defenses, mood...
But the increasing incidence of skin cancer, supported by scientific studies, as well as skin aging or blotchiness, as the skin becomes less elastic and thinner, and blood vessels begin to show more and more, makes us take serious precautions.
What can we do?
Umbrellas, hats, shade, sunscreen...anything goes, but dermatology experts are clear: moisturizers that meet the following premises:
1) Contain active ingredients that promote cellular repair and prevent oxidation caused by free radicals and ultraviolet radiation, and 2) Contain active ingredients that promote cellular repair and prevent oxidation caused by free radicals and ultraviolet radiation.
2) High sun protection, in order to protect the skin as much as possible against the passage of time, our moisturizing day care products contain high SPF (Sun Protection Factor). Specifically SPF 30 and SFP 50.
How do we know which SPF to use?
The SPF indicates the number of times a sunscreen increases the skin's ability to defend itself against erythema or redness prior to the burn.
As an example, if an erythema appears on your skin exposed to the sun in 5 minutes, which will depend on the phototype of your skin, by applying a photoprotector with SPF 20 your skin will be protected 20 times that time, i.e. 100 minutes and with an SPF 50 about four hours.
It is also important to take into account the amount of cream applied because the SPF index is calculated considering that you apply 2 mg per cm2 of skin.
Don't risk your skin this summer 😉.
